Frequently asked questions

What counts as a retention event?

One retention event = one call Apple makes to your RetainKit runtime endpoint when a subscriber starts to cancel — usually from iOS Settings, where Apple's cancellation flow runs. Each attempt counts once, regardless of whether the subscriber accepts an offer.

What happens if I go over my monthly limit?

We'll email you at 80% and 100% of your limit. Once you hit the ceiling, the runtime returns a no-offer response to Apple — subscribers can still cancel, they just won't see a retention offer until the next billing cycle or you upgrade.

Is there a free trial on paid plans?

Yes — Launch comes with a 14-day free trial that starts when Apple approves your Retention Messaging access, not the day you sign up. Sandbox testing is free while you wait, and you can cancel anytime before the trial ends and owe nothing.

Do sandbox requests count against my quota?

No — sandbox retention events are always free and never count against your monthly limit, on any plan. Test as much as you like before going live.

Can I switch plans?

Yes, any time. Upgrades take effect immediately and are pro-rated. Downgrades take effect at the start of the next billing cycle.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. Subscriptions can be cancelled to stop future renewal. Refund requests are handled by Paddle under Paddle's refund policy and applicable consumer law — see our refund policy for details.

Do you store my subscribers' personal data?

No. We SHA-256-hash all Apple transaction identifiers before logging. Raw IDs are only stored encrypted for outcome polling and deleted after the polling window closes. See our Privacy Policy.
